Hear Their Words

One time while reading Alma 29:1-2 I again struggled under the pressure to try to be like Alma, and wish to be a missionary so strongly that I wanted to fly about the sky proclaiming the gospel. Follow his example. But it couldn't. I was thinking about the web and how its so many people shouting but no one listening. So I decided to listen to Alma, clearly he wanted someone to hear. This is what Alma says:
Alma 29:2 Yea, I would declare unto every soul, as with the voice of thunder, repentance and the plan of redemption, that they should repent and come unto our God, that there might not be more sorrow upon all the face of the earth.
Did you know that is the wish of Alma's heart?

So I looked for other men in the scriptures delivering words that clearly are particularly important to them.
Mosiah 17:14-15 (AbinidiAnd now when the flames began to scorch him, he cried unto them, saying: Behold, even as ye have done unto me, so shall it come to pass that thy seed shall cause that many shall suffer the pains that I do suffer, even the pains of death by fire; and this because they believe in the salvation of the Lord their God.
1 Nephi 17:14 (14-54) (Nephi) When Nephi stretched for his hand to shock his brothers he had spent a long time testifying of the power of God to deliver the righteous. The last thing recorded he heard from the Lord before the trouble with his brother and eventual command to shock them was this:  Yea, and the Lord said also that: After ye have arrived in the promised land, ye shall know that I, the Lord, am God; and that I, the Lord, did deliver you from destruction; yea, that I did bring you out of the land of Jerusalem.
Mosiah 3:5-7 (2-23) (King Benjamin) As King Benjamin stood with trembling limbs, having proclaimed his son king and exhorted his people for 41 verses, he remained standing and trembling to explain what an angel has revealed to him. This continues for 21 verses. For behold, the time cometh, and is not far distant, that with power, the Lord Omnipotent who reigneth, who was, and is from all eternity to all eternity, shall come down from heaven among the children of men, and shall dwell in a tabernacle of clay, and shall go forth amongst men, working mighty miracles, such as healing the sick, raising the dead, causing the lame to walk, the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and curing all manner of diseases. And he shall cast out devils, or the evil spirits which dwell in the hearts of the children of men. And lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people.
Alma 5:3-7 (Alma the Younger) When Alma felt so moved to preach to the people that he gave up the judgement seat and committed to the church full time this is the first thing he taught:  I, Alma, having been consecrated by my father, Alma, to be a high priest over the church of God, he having power and authority from God to do these things, behold, I say unto you that he began to establish a church in the land which was in the borders of Nephi; yea, the land which was called the land of Mormon; yea, and he did baptize his brethren in the waters of Mormon. And behold, I say unto you, they were delivered out of the hands of the people of king Noah, by the mercy and power of God. And behold, after that, they were brought into bondage by the hands of the Lamanites in the wilderness; yea, I say unto you, they were in captivity, and again the Lord did deliver them out of bondage by the power of his word; and we were brought into this land, and here we began to establish the church of God throughout this land also. And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, you that belong to this church, have you sufficiently retained in remembrance the captivity of your fathers? Yea, and have you sufficiently retained in remembrance his mercy and long-suffering towards them? And moreover, have ye sufficiently retained in remembrance that he has delivered their souls from hell? Behold, he changed their hearts; yea, he awakened them out of a deep sleep, and they awoke unto God. Behold, they were in the midst of darkness; nevertheless, their souls were illuminated by the light of the everlasting word; yea, they were encircled about by the bands of death, and the chains of hell, and an everlasting destruction did await them.
Alma 46:13, 18 (Captain Moroni) The Title of Liberty created, and before setting out into the land: ... he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land ...Surely God shall not suffer that we, who are despised because we take upon us the name of Christ, shall be trodden down and destroyed, until we bring it upon us by our own transgressions.
Joseph Smith History 1:17 (Heavenly Father) Having waits 2 millennia for the restoration of his church, and facing his future servant, who would open the final dispensation before the end of time, He utters this first: This is my beloved Son, hear him.
